The past couple have days have been really tough and I only felt a little bit of what people are going through all over the world. The anxiety of a loved one testing positive for COVID 19 will make you overthink for days on end.
My grandfather did not have any symptoms, other than a cough (which is tied to his dialysis) and shortness of breath. His specialist said he needed to take the test. He is 91 years old and has been in isolation since mid December. It was impossible that he contracted it.
He tested negative the first time and then the lab called us and said that it was a faulty swab. They said we had to take him to the hospital again for a second swab to make sure. So the second time around we were even more anxious.
This morning they called and said that he tested negative. So we are definitely grateful. However, this whole experience raises some questions. How many faulty tests are out there? How many false negatives/positives have happened? How are dialysis/chemo patients being treated?
My heart breaks for the treatment of all senior citizens who are stuck in long term care homes without proper assistance. The government is not doing enough to help the PSW workers in this retirement homes and they are all helpless.
This virus is scary as hell and to even come close to someone I love so dearly have to take a swab, just made everything worse. I can’t even imagine the constant anxiety of those who have a family member who is currently suffering. My heart goes out to everyone.
I guess the whole point of this thread, is that everyone should be more cautious and take the proper precautions bc if you don’t, you will literally have no clue where you contracted this virus from. So please stay inside and stay safe.
