Been a fan of tithing for years. Need to read up on different expressions of the practice, but NOW IS THE TIME TO TITHE.
This thread is directed at comfortable white people working from home with real income.
Give money to people feeding our neighbors. Food banks, mutual aid projects, churches with food programs, soup kitchens
Give money to fight incarceration. Bail projects, groups fighting to release prisoners, halfway houses
Invest in quality journalism. Find independent local journalists to support. Along with supporting regional and national coverage. Public radio. Podcasts that educate you.
Do not stop supporting groups you already have commitments to. You believe in these causes and they need you now more than ever.
Find other causes to support. Restaurant food to health care workers is a great cause. There are dozens of worthy initiatives in every city.
Just GIVE people doing the real work a LOT more of your money. Now is the time.
Tip well if you are too timid to go outside / start using delivery service. Channel your bitchiest self if the apps have the gall to cap tips (Caviar). Complain to management.
Never cross a picket line. Lives are at stake.
And learn how to wear a mask.
