This years @ABSamahan members are the strongest and most resilient I’ve ever seen. They are the reason philippine-american organizations exist in the collegiate space.
When I was college and was an active member of ab samahan, I felt that there was a huge lack of cultural and political focus as a collective group of people, and many who join focus on the social part of the org.
Which isn’t really a problem because you want to make new friends and have a fun college experience. But with the recent events that are happening where they had no choice but to cancel their biggest cultural event of the year, -
- and had to face blatant, disgusting racial discrimination in their virtual space, honestly? Past members could never imagine and not even know how to navigate past it.
To still want to celebrate our culture and rally up huge amounts of attention towards our struggles is what our organization was founded upon.

These are the values of the founding members of AB Samahan.

These are the values of Andres Bonifacio.
I’ve always been so critical of my own org for the last 5-6 years but the amount of pride I have in ab samahan is tremendous. 🇵🇭
