question for virologists:
It seems betacoronaviruses OC43 and/or HKU1 infection could provide some immunity against SARS-CoV-1 and MERS, although it is not clear if the patients with past OC43 or HKU1 infection would have advantage or disadvantage against SARS-CoV-2 infection.1/
It seems betacoronaviruses OC43 and/or HKU1 infection could provide some immunity against SARS-CoV-1 and MERS, although it is not clear if the patients with past OC43 or HKU1 infection would have advantage or disadvantage against SARS-CoV-2 infection.1/
Finding Evidence for this could open the option, if proven true, of voluntarily infecting population with OC43 or HKU1 to decrease likelihood of poor clinical outcomes and SARS-CoV-2 expansion. 2/
Does prior exposure to OC43 or HKU1 protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection? Has these been studied in animal models or humans at all?

thought investigating this could help find temporary solutions until vaccine/treatments are found.
