Today, President Trump authorized his administration to leak to Fox News claims of having intel that shows the World Health Organization was complicit in assisting China in covering up how Covid-19 was developed in a Chinese lab and accidentally released.

What. The. Fuck.

The general reaction seems to be "well that is weird, let's see what happens." But holy shit this is horrifying. Even if the Intel were real, THIS is how the U.S. government is releasing the news? Anonymous-but-authorized leaks to Fox News?

Oh but it gets worse.

The White House's new claim? Trump's sycophantic tweets throughout January praising President Xi were all just an elaborate ruse! Trump was conducting a cover operation to trick China into thinking all was cool, in order to allow the investigation into the Wuhan lab to continue.

If the "intel" about the Wuhan lab intern who accidentally caught the virus and spread it to her boyfriend is real, it's unfathomable why Trump is choosing to make the information public this way.

And he did choose this. His comments today to @johnrobertsFox made that clear.

The nature of the information backing these claims remains unknown, since the White House contacts who leaked the story to Fox wouldn't share any of it with Fox. All they would say is that it came from "open-source" and "classified" documents.

If covid really did come from a Wuhan lab, this is the worst possible way to tell the world. It's too bizarre to be believed, and too obviously politically motivated.

And if this intel is manufactured, it's a sign of what lengths the unshackled Trump admin is now able to go to.
