If you fellow word nerds need a good laugh today. Here it is -

I was watching the sopranos, and one of the characters used the word “IRREGARDLESS.”

I laughed out loud, knowing the correct word was just “Regardless.”

“Irregardless” is not a word.

But I wanted to be sure...
So I hopped on google and typed in “is irregardless a word?”

And @MerriamWebster dictionary popped up with an article, addressing this very common word mistake.

I clicked on it. And found one of the funniest explanation pages I’ve ever read in my life.
Turns out, “irregardless” has been a point of so many arguments, so many complaints to the dictionary, that someone at @MerriamWebster wrote a full op-Ed explaining why it’s in the dictionary.

And it’s fucking hilarious.
It is written from the perspective of someone whose life has been consumed by this argument, and the people who won’t leave @MerriamWebster alone about it.

This poor soul. This beaten warrior of words. This is their story. https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/is-irregardless-a-real-word-heh-heh
