Food charities have been burdened with filling in the gaps of our unjust food system for too long. Part of resilience is growing more food in urban and suburban areas, and that's one reason community gardens are important. The city of Red Deer is keeping gardens open, and Victoria will be replacing some of its flower gardens with food...
Meanwhile in Ontario, @fordnation has lumped community gardens in with "recreational" activities, though they are essential to low income people, food banks and overall food system resilience...
