Nampa is holding a remote council meeting to make adjustments to the city's #COVID19 response following @GovernorLittle's stay-home extension. The audio keeps cutting out, so I may not get all details, but I'll try to catch the biggest updates. @TheIdahoPress @NampaPIO
The livestream completely cut out for about one minute right before the council was set to vote on extending the city's state of emergency. I'm trying to find out what happened.
The livestream was cut. City officials say they're trying to get it back on.
The livestream is back up and the audio issues are gone now. Not sure if the council voted on the state of emergency extension while the stream was down.
The council did not vote on the extension while the livestream was down. After over an hour of discussion, the council just unanimously voted to extend Nampa's state of emergency until May 4.
Council members were very concerned about how #COVID19 is impacting local businesses, moving one councilman to tears. However, Nampa's state of emergency does not affect whether non-essential businesses can open. @GovernorLittle's stay-home order determines that.
A majority of the council expressed that they were not supportive of Little's stay-home order, citing the negative economic impact. Jean Mutchie was the only member who expressed support, saying that the ramifications will be worse if the city does not respect the order.
Councilman Darl Bruner just asked the city attorney to look into the consequences Nampa would face if the city did not abide by the stay-home order if @GovernorLittle decided to extend it beyond April 30.
Nampa City Council just unanimously voted to reopen Centennial and Ridgecrest golf courses tomorrow. The club houses will remain closed, and participants will be asked to use one golf cart per person unless the players live in the same house.
Debbie Kling said Caldwell is also reopening its golf courses on Friday.
Nampa City Council just voted to eliminate all parking fees in downtown Nampa and the Nampa parking garage controlled by the city through April.
Nampa City Council is adjourned.
