As we suspected (and dreaded), @IRSnews sent my wife& #39;s stimulus money to the wrong bank account - the one she closed when we got married. No idea if there will be any way for us to even *eventually* get it.
The IRS would& #39;ve had her current direct deposit info, had they processed the joint tax return we submitted before the pandemic hit. But they decided they won& #39;t be doing that until this blows over. (We& #39;re owed a refund, btw.)
As for my stimulus check, it theoretically should be coming as a physical check, but they& #39;re still in the "we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time" phase. Hopefully that will eventually resolve itself.
Naturally, however, vis-a-vis my wife& #39;s predicament, the IRS has apparently decided they will not be allowing people to contact them to inform them of changes.
The only way they& #39;ll take new bank information, so we& #39;re informed, is to submit it as part of an e-filed 2019 tax return. But, as noted above, we& #39;ve already submitted that tax return (in paper format).
So.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
