A thread on why the legal errors in Quiz are making my head explode

1. Clients going straight to see their QC in the days before direct access for a conference with no solicitor present. Risky roads. @LeonKazakos a lesson for you in your first year in silk

2. Defence Q.C. casually representing three defendants despite potential conflicts

3. Counsel walking. WHERE ARE YOU WALKING TO?! STAND STILL!

4. It was teething problems. Counsel's opening speech should be safe. How wrong i was. "You have a 50/50 guilty or not guilty". Ah well we may as well all go home then since the case has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt and 50/50 just won't cut it

5. "Hello Kevin" . We're in a court room not a pub (those were the days!) Not a way to greet any non vulnerable witness *face palm*

6. HHJ casually popping sweets on the bench. Even @ianaryeh thought this one didn't seem right

7. Who's that I spy in the public gallery? Oh it's an as yet uncalled witness. Won't be calling them to give evidence any time soon

8. Strongest prosecution witness being inexplicably called at the end of the defence case - lucky as he seems to like to have the last word

9. Objection! My apologies for interrupting my learned friend but i'm afraid we simply don't object in that manner in this jurisdiction as exciting as it may appear

10. And lets add the gavel banging with "Order!" shall we? @BarristerSecret would be furious

11. These casual mini speeches being peppered everywhere may be the cause of the jury's coughing

12. We're onto the stage the defence case actually make a speech (the earlier ones must have been rehearsals). But oh dear! What a screw up! Forgot to adduce client's good character - better slip it in now and hope no one notices!

13. Seems like the sort of case where you might pass a blinder of a sentence. Best to do it without explanation or justification - why bother with sentencing remarks after all

14. And in case you think i forgot the police lets not forget the casual interviewing of 2 suspects at the same time thereby contaminating any accounts you might actually get from them
