A Project
(short thread)

My first mistake was thinking that ANY project would be an instant gratification project while I'm PMSing.

This was supposed to take maybe 30min and be super quick and simple. Instead, it took about an hour, involved me saying many angry words, and >
left me questioning my basic competency as a human being (like I don't already questions that multiple times a day).

Also, I now have further evidence that the extreme, unrelenting stress of being laid off from work, global health crisis, and my son being far away has >
turned my brain to pudding and severely affected my hand-eye coordination.

But, y'all know what? I prettied up my closet door.
Before I continue, yes, I am AWARE that there were many different ways I could've done this including some easier ways. Allow me to state that I DON'T CARE. I am in a bad mood. Don't provoke me. And, don't anyone even dare to attempt to mansplain anything to me. DO NOT. >
I did it the way I did it for reasons including being able to stand the wear and tear of the door being frequently opened and closed and my often changing out what's in the clips. Also, the way I did it leaves nothing @ all dangling - it seems to be holding position well. >
You will need:
an ugly closet door - the bifold kind w/slats
regular size binder clips
fishing line
scissors
a tiny washer
special flat, lightweight things you want to have out so you can enjoy seeing them instead them being hidden away in a memory box or the like>
NOTE: Even if you know from past experience that it's a pain in the ass to seat the door back into its track, go ahead and pop the door off the track so you can swing it out away from the closet. Just do it. Trust me.

NOTE ON THE NOTE: Esp. essential if you are claustrophobic.
What is the tiny washer for you ask? I dealt w/unnecessary aggravation doing the first side, learned my lesson, and worked smarter on the second side. Anything small and flat enough to slide between the slats will work. (If you don't have a tiny washer handy, a little bitty >
safety pin might work well, too.) Tie the washer to the end of the fishing line before you start working with it after you've knotted the big start loop up top. Tie it tight - at least a square knot. That light weight, tiny washer is gonna help you cuss less. Trust me.
The way I did the big loop up top:
How much fishing line do you think that side's gonna take? Don't cut that length because you're wrong. Cut more like half over again that length. At least.
Slide one end underneath the top portion of the door, front to back (room side to >
clothes side). (Go ahead and do the washer, now, if you want. The tiny washer is your friend. DO IT.) Tie a small slip knot in the other end and put it over the very top edge of the door. Pull the free end (washer end) through the slip knot. Tighten the big circle around the >
top span of the door, then tighten the slip knot. This keeps everything tight, in place, and less likely to come untied. Tighter and more secure than just tying a circle. Also, you've got some fidget room to slip and slide things a little to line everything up how you want it >
before you start weaving in and out of the slats. Get it just right, then tighten mostly, then double check, then pull everything final tight.

What's in my clips right now? Top to bottom, left then right.

1. an Otis Elevator Sky Ride postcard from The Century of Progress - the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair

2. the program from Amelia's funeral

3. a clipping of Andrew Greeley's writing talking about how the concept of justice also involves the personal justice of someone being >
able to follow their calling

4. a card from Patricia w/pics of Henry

5. the 3 @artinstitutechi tickets from my visits the last time I was in Chicago

6. a USCG MH-65 patch

7. a page I tore out of the Nov. 2016 issue of @JuxtapozMag - the Sieben on Life column from that issue>
grabbed me and has never let go.

8. a Chrysler Motors exhibit postcard from the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair

Now, before someone asks, "But, Rigel, where's the @OfficialOMD stuff? It's really strange for you to have not included them," just look above the closet door. And,>
as soon as I come across a piece of @SecondCityChiTC memorabilia that'll work w/the clip, that'll replace the bottom right hand postcard.
Any questions? (Remember: You've been warned that I'm in a bad mood.)
Also, as far as the typos that will inevitably be found in this thread, so be it. Get over it.
