I've come all the way around to believing that the Dem proposal to get free COBRA to any laid-off work is damn amazing progressive policy & some leftists are literally just attacking it because it's 1) a Democratic proposal, and 2) has the word "COBRA" in it.

A more charitable reading that I'm sure is correct in some cases is that a lot of people don't really understand the difficulty (impossibility?) of getting Medicare ready to adequately support millions of non-elderly Americans *immediately*.

The only potentially possible adequate way to get everybody on public insurance *immediately* would be to use TriCare but I get why Democrats don't want to get into the political jam of explaining why people in the military don't deserve special benefits.

An over-reliance on technocracy is bad for progressives but the instinct toward “just do X, I don’t care what experts say, I’m sure it’ll work” is also very bad.
