Even a small woodchip pile heats up! The weather is around 60 but the center of this pile is 80 F! Makes sense that a gigantic pile can produce a ton of energy while also transforming into incredible soil in a few years
It never hurts to just have a gigantic pile of wood chips. Usually they can be delivered for free from tree trimmers. Wet them down and coil pipes inside and you have a water heater for a year and a half. Spread it out after and plant right in it.
A big pile like the ones Jean pain belt takes 100 yards of material compacted and wet but produced all the hot water he needed up to just under boiling. It also allowed him to sink a drum inside for anaerobic biogas (stored here in pressurized tires)
Put this is in a greenhouse and it will heat it up and boost everything
Even if you’re really busy right now I would just call up tree trimmer places and have them leave a gigantic pile on your driveway if you can you don’t even have to get to it for a year. Inoculated with mushrooms a couple weeks after getting it and you’ll have mushrooms to eat
Lay it down as paths, heat things with it, mulch over your soil with it, put it in a bucket for urine or full on humanure composting. Mix it with your veggie wastes so they compost fast.
