I’m seeing people post inaccurate information about why freelancers/self-employed people are getting $0.00 from edd, they haven’t rolled out the actual forms to apply for it so we are being put on a pending list, they haven’t done this before and are figuring out how to proceed.

We should be receiving something along the lines of half of the maximum amount plus the extra $600 the CARE act has added to the benefits. This will be a slow process as they are setting up infrastructures they didn’t have before.

I will add more information as I am doing my best to compile and gather information from other freelancers and what responses I get myself from my email correspondences. Hang in there friends

UPDATE: April 28th is when self employed people will be able to submit the online application to receive benefits through unemployment for California, just found this on there pandemic care act page!

UPDATE: This is what the unemployment benefit funds will be looking like for self employed/ freelancers in California : $167+600: $767 from March 29-July 25th
They will be sending backdated checks to cover later dates since the applications won’t be available until April 28th.

UPDATE: A lot of people I know still haven’t received there stimulus payment, if you haven’t received it and want to check the status you can do so online, they might not have your information on file yet, you can always send them the information if they say they need it!
