Those last two: MERS and SARS are in the category 'Coronaviruses'. Same family as #COVID19, but different viruses. #Covid_19 is also designated SARS-CoV2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. But the @WHO doesn't like that official designation...

So The NAIAH, the CDC, the NIH, WHO and many other Alphabet agencies since at least 2002-03 on a 'coronavirus vaccine'- with no success, despite Billions being poured into research by the government, academia and private industry. Lots of private industry.

NIAID Focuses on just infectious diseases- primarily in the lucrative field of vaccine development and production and the development of new treatment fof novel viruses, infections and epidemics. As noted above, there is a LOT of money in Vaccines.
