If you're in Michigan flying this flag, that really destroys the whole "heritage not hate" defense -- because Michigan's heritage is kicking the sh*t out of the Confederacy. So I guess that narrows it down to the other option...

At least Germany has tried to reckon with its Nazi past. We refuse to do that with the great evil that was the Confederacy and we continue to pay the price.

"It was about states rights," "the north was just as bad," "well they burned down Georgia" etc etc this is all the stuff I heard growing up in northern Louisiana. It's all minimizing nonsense and the (intended) result is for white people to not have any accountability

The larger result is that working class people won't unite because (a lot of) southern whites will always cling to this shit. So the slaveowners continue to win.
