Here’s a look at my family’s contributions to the city of San Francisco. My grandmother born in Jamaica, moved to SF when she was 7 years old attended John Muir, Everett and Mission HS (before dropping out). She worked for the City and County of SF starting off as a desk clerk
- was then promoted to the commissioner’s office clerk before moving into the Human Resources department until her retirement from the city in 1997. Mayor Willie Brown awarded my grandma with an prestige award for her services.
My grandfather aka the Billy GOAT was born in Louisiana, served in the Army Air Force just for the GI-bill, graduated from Southern U moved to SF, took graduate courses at SF State and once he started his career in the Bay, he held so many affluent positions of power from
-Director of the Early Childhood Development Program
-Affirmative Action Officer/ Community Affairs Rep
-Chairman of the Board of MLK Square and Marcus Garvey Co-op
-VP, Labor and Industry Committee of the NAACP
and the President of the NAACP SF Chapter to name a few. 🐐🐐🐐🐐
Which ultimately got my G the opportunity to get his mural painted on the side of Ella Hill Hutch’s building with other pillars of our community. I am a Fillmoe baby but stayed in the point for 13 years of my life. Hope y’all enjoyed this thread.🌉
