I'm not surprised that Brittle Paper censored Otosiezire. The gatekeepers of the Nigerian literary scene have always dined and wined with the corrupt and the powerful.

And please, nobody that attended Kabafest should express any faux outrage about this.

I mean, writers went to Kaduna to attend Kabafest, funded by Governor El-Rufai, the same person that threw out a member of the intelligentsia, Dr. John Danfulani for criticizing President Buhari.

Were they expecting that they would be somehow sacred to these people? That the scene controlled by the likes of Lola Soneyin and the other literary crooks, and bankrolled by Governor El-Rufai will somehow spare them when they step out of line?

(3)
Serious writers who are not ready to bow to these crooks should either look to get published or recognized outside of this corrupt literary space or get a day job. The compromised literary gatekeepers will frustrate you out.

(4)
I'm again grateful that people like Pa Ikhide protested loudly with the #BoycottKaduna back then when writers went to Kaduna because of Lola and others to allegedly "engage" Governor El-Rufai.

(5)
I insist that nobody that attended Kabafest should show any outrage. Dr. John Danfulani was one of you and yet when Gov. El-Rufai arrested him and fired him from his job, you lots still went to Kaduna to speak English at the festival bankrolled by the Governor.

(6)
Heck, he even gave the opening address and shaded the protesters trending the #boycottkaduna hashtag while you shameless lots sat down there laughing and drinking wine with the same man that silenced one of your own.

(7)
Nobody is sacred. You are only useful to them when you stay in line, stay loyal, drink their wine, and live within the limits they have created for you. The moment you attempt to be special, have a voice or step out of that line, they'll bare their fangs.

(8)
Writers, publish your books yourself, seek outside validation (let the literary crooks keep talking about using literature to fight neocolonialism and repression in their cute little festivals funded by oppressors), or get a fucking day job.
