One of the most striking images of the Passover story for me is the fleeing Israelites trapped between the sea and Pharaoh's advancing army. The fear and helplessness that they must have felt before the seas opened is palpable to me every time we tell the story. 1/5
As Passover comes to a close, I'm thinking a lot about people for whom that sort of fear is a daily lived reality. In particular, I'm thinking of the people of Gaza. Quite literally trapped between hostile forces and the sea. 2/5

I'm thinking about 2 million people crammed for 13 years in that tiny plot of land, about the ways that our government and the Jewish community have contributed to this reality, about how vulnerable Gaza is in the face of the Coronavirus 3/5

There is no miraculous sea-parting in store for the people of Gaza. But one way we can help create just a little more freedom there is by donating to @MedicalAidPal , who are working to provide emergency medical and hygiene supplies to the people of Gaza. 4/5

So if you can spare a few bucks— perhaps some of what you would have spent to travel home for Passover or Easter, or a little bit of your stimulus check—please consider contributing. Because none of us are free until we all are free. 5/5 #PassoverForGaza http://bit.ly/IfNotNowMAP
