Jackie Aina says things that make certain people uncomfortable. And that should be okay.

If someone says “yt people don’t say excuse me” Idk make an extra effort to say it for a few. See if it feels different.

Maybe view her “attitude” as an opportunity and not a accusation.
If you have a diverse friend group you hear these things. All female attorneys get mistaken for clerks or paralegals at some point but my Black colleagues have been mistaken for criminal defendants. That is a hard thing to hear. But I do my best to listen and remember.
It’s not the oppression olympics. It’s supporting each other and knowing that you probably do some of the things that are hurting your friends. The biggest mistake we as allies make is believing we can cloak our loved ones in our privilege and so the outside world can’t hurt them
But that isn’t how it works and you have to work on that constantly.
So if you have Black friends. Just remember when you take JA words to heart and not on the chin you are making their lives better.
