fuck it domestic kagehina au where tobio is a good singer... he has this calm, low voice that travels really well and has a sweetness that contrasts with the deepness.... hinata first heard it when he woke up one day and tobio was getting dressed next to him, singing softly

switching between singing lyrics and humming for the parts he doesnt remember, and hinata’s laying there, white covers pulled up to his face, still half asleep but enjoying it all until it hits him that Fuck thats his boyfriend??? and he can sing????????!!!!

and he pulls himself to a sitting position with the blankets draped around him and just kind of croaks out a “kageyama?” and tobio turns and he’s slightly startled because he didn’t think hinata would wake up anytime soon... but then he sees hinata, wrapped up like a cocoon,

with his orange hair sticking up everywhere, and this little soft smile flickers on his mouth before he quietly mutters a “good morning”... but hinata who usually says it back just stares at him, sleepiness not completely concealing the awe and gentle intensity in his gaze,

and he just goes “keep going.” and tobio’s confused at first, staring back until hinata goes “keep singing.” and at that tobio goes slightly pink, having been caught because he doesn’t think he has a nice voice, and goes “... you heard me?”

and hinata is just screaming in his head like YES I HEARD YOU PLEASE.. MORE but at the show of tobio’s shyness he gets a little embarrassed too, and flops back down on the bed, covers pulled up completely, and mutters “i’m waiting...”

and tobio, still half in his pajamas, starts humming again, slightly stiffer than before but quickly slipping back to the ease of the tune, staring at hinata’s figure in the bed. hinata doesn’t move one inch and tobio’s starting to think he fell back asleep, and pauses.

but as soon as he stops singing, the covers are pulled down a bit as hinata peeks out, only eyes visible, staring at tobio. he didn’t expect tobio to be staring at him first, though and as soon as their eyes meet hinata flushes a bit. and even though only his eyes are visible,

tobio knows him well enough to catch onto what’s going on, and his half shy smile turns into a half smug smirk, and he starts singing again, this time with a saccharine tease in his voice, and slowly makes his way over to the bed, to hinata.

and when he gets there, he triumphantly pulls down the covers to reveal his boyfriend’s whole face, which is more than a bit pink with embarrassment, and his smirk grows into a full-blown one (altho not one without fondness). his boyfriend is whining protests under him,

embarrassment clear as day, and when they meet eyes, hinata’s slightly shaky from being caught but with undeniable awe and endearment in them, tobio can almost physically feel his soften too. his hand brushes against hinata’s forehead, gently pushing the hair out of the way,

and he leans down, careful not to crush hinata under him. lips to his boyfriend’s red ear, a soft mumble, “i’ll sing more from now on, if it’ll make you make this kind of face.” [end]
