Pro tip. You don't at all discourage people from believing conspiracy theories when you shame them for attempting to think for themselves or think beyond what the government's explanation for things is.
I myself veer far away from conspiracy theories almost always. I also think we have to do a good bit of personal research, discernment, & critical thinking to make sense out of the many things we are told. I also know that shaming people never invites them into the common good.
TL;DR

saying 'YOU BLUBBERING IDIOT, STAY THE F*** HOME' to someone who believes the whole thing's made up so the gov't can institute martial law doesn't actually work or help anybody
And also there is also always the possibility that some parts of these theories are actually true. The likelihood that our government doesn't want us knowing the full extent of their malfeasance is high.
another TL;DR--we are in this together. I wish we could figure out how to understand it and act as if it were true
