Tankcrimes began in 2002 as a label to promote the local Bay Area scene and most of the releases from outside of California revolve around a handful of friends from RVA. While mostly back to the Bay these days, there has been some international releases over the years. Thread.
In 2008 I did an quite ambitious release with VITAMIN X from Amsterdam. Recorded by Steve Albini with art from John Baizley. A gatefold with posters and inner sleeves and multi wacky vinyl, most hardcore wasn’t getting this deluxe treatment at the time. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/full-scale-assault
In 2010 I worked with one of my favorite bands of the previous decade, INEPSY from Montreal, of a split with Toxic Holocaust. This was our fastest selling record to date at the time limited to 2000 it moved fast! The die hard edition had Away (Voivod) art https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/toxic-inepsy
2011 I hooked up with VICTIMS from Stockholm to do the US vinyl edition of their 5th album (my favorite - massive stadium crust) while the cd/digital was handled by our friends at Deathwish. Richey Beckett did the stunning cover art. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/a-dissident
NIGHT FEVER from Copenhagen is the only band I’ve ever worked with that I never met. It was my love of these tracks and several friendship based coincidences that got me on board for this one. Split with the mighty No Way records. Ripping K-town Hardcore! https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/new-blood
2012 saw another VITAMIN X release “About to Crack” the drums were actually tracked by Steve Albini 4 years earlier during the previous album sessions and this was finished in Amsterdam. John Baizley on the cover art again. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/about-to-crack-2
In 2012 I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of this Grindcore masterpiece when Belgium drummer Dirk Verbueren (Soilwork at the time, MEGADETH today) hit me up about this project with Sven from The Aborted and Canadian legend Devin Townsend.
2015 saw me team up with my lifelong Canadian friends of who I am a massive fan. FUCKED UP from Toronto. 1 of 2 Zodiac releases I worked on, this is their thrash metal record with art by Andrei Bouzikov “Year of the Dragon” https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/year-of-the-dragon
The Japanese title in my catalog came in 2015 when I teamed up with the homies in VIVISICK from Tokyo. Brokered by my cousin Shiggy from Yokohama. I love this record so much what a shame they broke up a year later they were so so sick! https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/nuked-identity
In 2016 Stockholm’s VICTIMS returned with “Sirens” a straight forward d-beat pummeler. They would go on to sign with Relapse after this one. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/sirens
The final 2 international releases in my catalog both come from one of my favorites of all time, FUCKED UP. “Year of the Snake” is psychedelic as fuck and my 100th release! The cover artist Fred Tomaselli worked with Phish! https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/year-of-the-snake
“High Rise” was a limited single released on “Dreams Day” in 2018 and is the introduction to the story in their album “Dose Your Dreams” on Merge. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/high-rise
Bonus content: to be clear while LOS HUAYCOS we’re born and raised in Lima, Peru. They all live here at TCHQ in Oakland. Due to their other bands back home they remain most popular in Peru. But they are as Bay as the Creepsylvanians. https://downloads.tankcrimes.com/album/savage-monstrosities
Thanks for reading until the end. All of these downloads are free as fuck so help yourself. Stay safe and healthy I love you all!
