/ The number one question I am getting asked by querying authors right now is, I see you've signed a BUNCH OF PEOPLE lately. "Are you... planning to continue at this rate?"

Fam... NO. This is NOT SUSTAINABLE.

A thread:
/ As a new agent, I have been *deeply humbled* and incredibly happy-overwhelmed by the extremely skillful authors who have considered me as their representation. I had planned to build my list over 6 months or so, and I've hit my target number in 6 *weeks*.
/ I never expected this... but also, I cannot work with a gigantic herd of authors and also give my existing clients the attention they deserve. I'm closed to general queries, and after #DVPit (which I will sparingly participate in), I will be focused on my existing list.
/ Publishing isn't going away, and I'm in it for the relationship with the heroes who write the magical worlds, and for making the books the best possible gems they can be. The #SpineSquad is going to blow people away!
/ Since February, I have screened 200+ queries - 156 through my QM, and the rest on request or referral. I have 23 clients, and 12 open queries or offers right now. I have had to send So. Many. Rejections. I have GOTTEN some painful rejections. It's been a Lot.
/ I *love* this work. It is giving me life. I am deeply grateful to the #SpineSquad, and the Rights Factory, and my colleagues (esp @ceciliaclyra 💜), and interns. And... I have a lot of editing and submissions to do before I can commit to even more.
/ ...and IDEALLY, I'd like to sell a book or two on my own. To prove to myself and everyone else that I can do that, but also to, you know, continue to provide kibble to my dogs and cats. 😉
/8 This thread is mostly to say THANK YOU. A lot of people have supported and trusted me in ways I never would have expected or predicted, and a lot of people have encouraged me to take care of myself through this whirlwind, and it means the world.
