Answering a question Texans have been asking for weeks: Texas AG releases statement saying fear of contracting COVID is not a valid excuse to request an absentee ballot, and reminds it’s a crime to lie on the form.
Election administrators will send anyone who asks for an absentee ballot an absentee ballot. They do not verify your claims. That does not prevent the AG or local prosector from investigating. It’s not clear to me if the TX SOS office was even consulted about this.
Worth noting this is not "official". https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/admin/2020/Press/4.14.20%20Letter%20to%20Rep.%20Klick.pdf?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term=">https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/def...
Literally minutes after they sent this press release, and Judge appears to have reversed this guidance. https://twitter.com/aclu/status/1250514460399321094?s=21">https://twitter.com/aclu/stat... https://twitter.com/aclu/status/1250514460399321094">https://twitter.com/aclu/stat...
