Starting the daily briefing at @UTStateCapitol with @UtahDepOfHealth and @JobsUT
Now, Dr. Angela Dunn, state epidemiologist with @UtahDepOfHealth.
#utahcovid19 update

Total positive cases:
2,542 (+130).

Lab Tests:
47,614 total tests (+1,138).

Hospitalizations:
221. This is a cumulative figure.

Deaths:
20 deaths (+1)
We only have 15 percent of cases are community spread.

Because we know where 85 percent of cases are coming from, we know that the public health orders and restrictive are working.

Keep up the good work, Utah!
Q: Do we have excess capacity to roll out more testing?

A: We are looking at those options. In long-term care facilities or in homeless shelters where we are investigating cases, we are testing everyone there.
Q: When can we expect things to re-open?

A: We are looking at metrics that will allow businesses to open. @GovHerbert has said those decisions will be driven by data. Soon we hope to release some of the plans for what recovery will look like.
Q: Of the cases with community spread, when did those cases develop?

A: We are still looking at plotting that out. Travel-related cases are shrinking.

Q: Are there undiagnosed cases?

A: We expect that, but the goal is to keep that spread minimal.
Next is Tracy Gruber from @JobsUT

Announcing: Child Care Operations Grant program to support Utah’s child care programs and the professional caregivers who are working through the COVID-19 pandemic.
38% of Utah’s licensed child care centers and 18% of its licensed family child care programs have closed.

These grants will provide child care business owners with the means to remain open — despite low enrollment.
Child care business owners can go to http://jobs.utah.gov/covid19  for more information and to download the Child Care Operations Grant agreement form.
Q: Is it just for brick and mortar centers or for home-based centers?

A: It is for both and funding is currently only available to centers that are still open. We are looking at strategies for those who have closed.
Q: How can you guarantee safety and hygiene at these centers?

A: We work with @UtahDepOfHealth on safety and hygiene protocols and we’re confident our providers are following guidance.
Next is Kevin Burt from @JobsUT

Announcing: We have released a pandemic unemployment assistance program. This is different from traditional unemployment benefits, such as the self-employed or gig economy workers.
See the “Am I Eligible?” feature at http://jobs.utah.gov/ui/home . You can enter their Social Security Number; if it comes back with an eligible monetary decision the claimant should apply for unemployment, ineligible decisions should apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.
Individuals who are eligible for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance will also be eligible for the $600 weekly federal stimulus program payments.

Applicants should expect 21-30 days for processing and must continue to file weekly.
Please continue to check on http://jobs.utah.gov/covid19  for the latest information regarding unemployment insurance and other available programs.
Q: How is your office keeping up with current demand?

A: We typically can work through the process in 21-30 days.

People need to apply for benefits at the right location. Use the correct application.

Please check the “Am I Eligible?” feature at http://jobs.utah.gov/ui/home .
Q: What options do undocumented people have to find out if they are eligible.

A: You would need your alien number to apply. But you need to check http://jobs.utah.gov/covid19  to learn more.
Remember, these programs are for people who have lost work or are unemployed. Go to the Am I Eligible tool to find out which is the best benefit. https://jobs.utah.gov/ui/home/Home/UiEligible
