Over the next few days we are going to share some of the approach we have taken and some of the extraordinary changes our teams have made to tackle #Covid_19.

These plans may not be perfect, they may not work everywhere but if it helps others think, then why not share, because:
2/ First some context:
@NUHMedicine is part of @nottmhospitals & has worked closely with @NUHSurgery @CS_NUH @nottmchildrens & @NUHCriticalCare to prepare.

Our ED usually has 600+ attendances per day & our division has 31 wards, across 2 campuses with serving 1.2M population.
3/ Since the outset of the Covid Crisis our @NUH_Respiratory consultant team (and @NUH_AcuteMed) have provided 24/7 Telephone Triage and advice for Primary Care, Paramedics & ED.

This has ensured senior input from the outset to ensure patients get to the right place, first time
4/Based on advice from colleagues in our twin city, Ningbo China, we redesigned our inpatient services to provide the best possible care for our patients, segregating possible Covid patients from others, from the front door.
5/ To create capacity & reduce avoidable length of stay, our integrated discharge team worked with families & system partners to achieve a goal of ZERO medically safe patients (those that no longer need NUH for their ongoing care).

They started with over 300. We now have <20.
