First off, I will not be lingering on the age difference, but is worth noting that Kane (26) has a market value of ÂŁ106m compared to the ÂŁ49m of Auba (30)
In their careers, Kane has registered 208 goals and 46 assists in 26,371 minutes, compared to Auba’s 257 goals and 81 assists in 37,762 minutes. This leaves Kane with a goal contribution every 104 minutes and Auba with one every 112 minutes.
That is not a huge difference, but it is important to note the leagues those stats come from. Kane has played 225/357 club games in the EPL and UCL, compared to 107/500 for Auba. Auba has also played 144 games in the Bundesliga and 120 games in Ligue 1.
While league alone is not an indicator of a striker’s quality, Kane has a better goals+assists per game ratio despite Auba playing for the majority of his career in the two easiest top five leagues for attackers, given the lack of quality in Ligue 1 and space provided in Germany.
The one place where Auba beats Kane is team trophies. He has won 3 German cups and 1 French cup. He is also a 2x top scorer, once in England and once in Germany. He also won the African footballer of the year award in 2015.
Kane has been crowned top scorer in the EPL twice and scored the most goals at the recent World Cup. Most notably, he broke Alan Shearer’s 22 year EPL record, scoring 39 league goals in 2017, while also becoming the top scorer in Europe that year.
For their national teams, Auba has scored 20 goals in 51 games, while Kane has scored 32 goals in 45 games. He also captained his country to a World Cup semi-final.
In addition to having a better goal-scoring record than Auba, Kane undoubtably contributes more to build-up play. He wins balls, presses efficiently, and has incredibly underrated vision, while Auba is more of an out and out scorer.
Kane has his whole career ahead of him, and has already outdone Aubameyang in most attacking aspects of the game. The two have played in similarly talented teams for most of their careers, but only Kane has performed at a world class level for years against the best of the best.
