Hey @Twitter here’s my proposal for digital safety strategy.

1. Introduce verification of profile pictures with facial recognition.

This could potentially stop this platform from becoming a digital epicentre of hate, misinformation and harassment.
2. Create a team to work with recognised fact checkers from each country to identify false and dangerous tweets. Once reported by them, a tweet to be flagged and removed.

3. Add policy to suspend handles after 3 such flagged tweets with warnings on each occasion.
4. Send out autogenerated email and DM to each person who amplified those identified dangerous misinformation or hate content, once fact-check flag those red.

Nobody cares to crosscheck after retweeting. It’s your job to use technology for easy awareness.
5. Suspend handles found to retweet/like such content for >12 times a year, with autogenerated DM/emails each time they did so.

6. Those who got suspended due to above reasons won’t be able to create a new profile as their facial verification will trigger decline, for some time
You may add a timeline of 3-12 months for them to reopen as a new account, their old accounts should never be restored.

7. Add interactive consent page for every new account. Add interactive quiz to “account reopen” process specific to the above defaulters.
Idea for quiz:
Total duration: 20-30 secs
- MCQs on online behaviour
- Show previously flagged risky tweets mixed with normal ones to select from “Maybe risky” and “Okay”.

If they can’t identify 100% of risky ones in 3 straight attempts, reactivation halts for 24hrs.
8. Add a button to request Factcheck beside like & retweet. This sends notification to the designated twitter team.

It’s a responsibility of the digital community to verify before sharing any sensitive information. Make you your users accountable.
9. Add a clear warning message with the Twitter app opening animation of your logo, that warns the user in line of “Pay attention to what you share.”

Most of these suggestions are algorithm driven, some will require serious upgrades and additional resources.
But you’re a big digital platform, you can’t act like you don’t know how to think around this. We trust @jack after he rejected political ads and his recent pledge for significant donation.

Hope this is taken up on priority. Thank you @Twitter let’s do something meaningful.
If your team can’t make this place safe and also grow the company, then what’s the point? Because, from where I can see, it is sustainable and doable.

[Pls RT if you want @Twitter to become safe. Hopefully @jack and team are thinking about all of these anyway.]
