Something it took me way too long to learn is that there's no particular reason why self-identified Democrats should be any more receptive to left wing ideas than self-identified Republicans.

I've seen enough verbally abusive, heartless, callous, and utterly irrational behavior from self-ID'd Dems. There is absolutely a 'Blue MAGA' crowd.

As always, I remain ethically committed to not 'leaving anyone behind.' Meaning that I hold to the belief that no one is a lost cause, although sometimes other factors mean *provisionally* giving up on someone.

But cruel, irrational worship of institutions is a phenomenon that spans the left-right spectrum. On the bright side, the left-right spectrum is a shitty model and we are allowed to throw it out if we want to.

I think this thread was based on thoughts that made sense, but I think it was worded in a way that's confusing. Maybe I'll try to re-express those thoughts later.
