As an extrovert married to an introvert there are lots of things I usually do to ensure I’m not too much all the time at home. I have an extrovert kind of job, I commute by train and talk to strangers (yes I’m that person #SorryNotSorry) I call people as I walk. 1/5
My introvert works from home and has that space before and after work when I’m not around. At least one evening a week he’ll be out and I’ll be home and I have my routines to get me through this time alone. 2/5
With lockdown I too am working from home – still in an extrovert kind of job meaning I use more than my share of the internet in many zoom meetings. But very much missing many of my easy ways of connecting to people. I’ve found friends to call 3/5
and catch up with to feed my energy and give my introvert the space he needs. Yesterday I spent too much time on the phone and my husband missed me. This evening after my usual choir I went to tell him I’m postponed that evening’s call to a friend to spend more time with him 4/5
– after 10 minutes I was sent away cos he needed space and now I’m writing this twitter thread to connect to people. Tis complicated this lockdown with an introvert! 5/5
