As @fiannafailparty and @FineGael publish their government policy document today, let us remind ourselves of what our Leader @michealmartintd said back in January 2020 - 4 months ago.

A member of Fianna Fáil released the following statement yesterday:
“It is my fervent belief that we, Fianna Fáil, should NOT enter coalition with Fine Gael. It goes against everything in my belief system that we should enter coalition with them

“I was totally against Confidence and Supply. This is even worse. I will be voting against coalition, when the time comes to vote. We went to the electorate looking to oust Fine Gael. Looking to defeat them. Knocking on doors every day, to get them out.

“The 2 parties are not compatible. Our greatest and most bitter rivals. A party that’s in the same Euro group as the ruling Hungarian Fascist party. A party that had its own Fascist group once in Ireland - The Blueshirts. We need to get back to our natural home - left of centre.

“We have lost our identity. We used to be the party of the common man. The poor. The small farmer. Not anymore. We were the party of social housing. Rural electrification. Free education. What’s our identity now? An Ireland For All? What’s that??

“We are no longer Fianna Fáil The Republican Party. Now we are just Fianna Fáil The Party. Leave the current government in place until after this crisis. Credit where it’s due, the Government is doing fine.

“After that, have a new General Election. No ifs, buts or maybes. That’s the way to go. End of story. Plus, a new Fianna Fáil Leader is needed. Micheál gave of his best but the electorate rejected us badly 2 months ago and his time is up.

“His lust for power will make him Taoiseach but will destroy us long term. Mark my words. We will never be trusted again by the electorate. Micheál said that Fine Gael in power is not change. The people are not getting change and they will punish us.

“We are leaving the door open for a Sinn Féin landslide in 5 years time. And having that party in power, with full access to the Garda Files and the Department of Justice, is the most dangerous outcome of all. #RespectTheMembers #RespectTheElectorate #ThisIsNotChange #FiannaFail
