Ok so recently i’ve been wanting to write a thread about my thoughts on Tower of god since i’ve recently caught up. Im really bad at gathering my thoughts and explaining them so bear with me im prob going to be jumping around alot
Okay so basically i went into the series totally blind only thing i knew was the art wasnt the best.Originally i just wanted to read it because i was curious but i immediately got interested and couldnt stop reading.
the series has managed to ignore the trope of serial escalation by showing how strong characters were early on. Gives a good sense power leveling in the world so you don’t feel like the characters growth aren’t earned.
Also its pacing is very good most long running series are plagued with bad pacing but togs pacing is done very good arcs dont feel dragged out and major plot reveals dont feel rushed or forced
Ik rachel haters are going to hate me but rachel is an incredibly interesting character from her crippling fear of the night, her envy to attain what others have, her small goal of wanting to see the stars, and how the tower legends have infected her with greed and cowardice
Rachel quite honestly might be one of the most human characters i’ve seen A girl who is unexceptional in almost every way clinging onto her dream based on legends, sacrificing everyone to reach it, fueled by her weakness and uses it to position herself to get success.
One of my first criticisms was the artwork in S1 it was extremely poor and was mostly carried by the story but being able to watch siu grow as an artist made me feel closer to the series and appreciate the art from S1 more
