Do y'all notice how all the countries with stellar covid-19 responses are governed by women? Angela Merkel, Tsai Ing-Wen, Jacinda Ardern, Metre Frederickson, Sanna Marin. All believers of science, who listened to experts and fast tracked lockdown and practiced widespread testing.
If "women" is the first keyword, the second is "governed". It's not enough to speak on TV or promise platitudes in front of your citizens. You have to lead with making budget adjustments, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, AND assuring your citizens.
Ardern and her cabinet took a 20% paycut for the next 6 months to increase crisis respond spending. Ing-Wen took this so seriously that despite being minutes away from mainland China, handled the crisis so well that they're now exporting millions of masks to the global West.
I left out Iceland's Prime Minister in my initial tweet, but Katrin Jakobsdottir's government offered free testing to all of their citizens. The result?

As of April 15, Iceland has detected 1,720 cases, with 8 deaths, and 989 recoveries.
For reference, here are the numbers from the other countries on this list.
So next time any of you crusty men want to make the argument that women "can't lead" because they're "too emotional," shut your whole entire mouth up. Their rational thinking, evidence-based decision making, and compassion, is leading the world in an unprecedented crisis.
All while the men fumble the most basic parts of their jobs, leading to thousands of our loved ones vanishing before we can even blink. It's real lives at stake. Please use any influence you have to call on your leaders to emulate these women.
I'm not saying all women leaders are the same. My country has one and Donald Trump takes leadership lessons from her (Sheikh Hasina, a true terror for my people). But I live in an autocracy.

What this trend is proving is that democratically elected women know how tf to lead.
Sorry I know I'm repeating myself a lot in this thread but I want to hammer home that the practice of having men as the default occupier of public office needs to CHANGE. We need to look at qualifications, and ability to empathize should be on the top of that list.
