Since BS in Accountancy is still trending and I got nothing to do at this hour, Imma to try to make a thread of how you will fall in & out of love with this program. BSA will test your self-confidence, your intellect, your social skills, your sanity, and even your faith.

1/n
For mathematically-inclined individuals, medyo makaya ra sa imuhang knowledge sa sugod. Lalo ba pag anad ka og mental arithmetic og worded problem solving. Kay halos same gyud sila og presentation and approach style of answering. Kay ipabalanse ra man ka sugod og A = L + E.

2/n
And once you get the knack for it, you’ll fall for it. “Increase in.. decrease in.., etc.” Pero things started to turn differently when you begin to journalize the transactions. 😬

3/n
Diri daghan kaayo og pwede approach. Asset-expense, income-liability.

I still remember when my teacher in Basic remarked na mahimo gyud daw kong CPA kay tungod dako ko kuha sa quiz sa adjusting 😅

6/n
Which is true man gyud. After ani, hawd na kaayo ka mag trial balance, adjusted trial balance, worksheet, and eventually buhat og income statement og balance sheet. Medj mudako napud ulo nimo. 😂

7/n
After sa Basic (dili nako magdiscuss og ParCor kay extended basic ra man sya) kay mag Fin. Acc naka. 😆

8/n
Himay-himayon ninyo unsaon pag determine (recognition), unsay irecord sa sugod (initial measurement), kung naay mga adjustments na buhaton (subsequent measurement), kung tanggalon (derecognition), and kung naa pay mga dapat bantayan (disclosures) FOR EACH ACCOUNT TITLE! 😱

9/n
You will do these for more than a year. After ani, akala mo tapos na. Magkatay2x pa gyud topics sa other branches like Cost, Managerial, etc.

10/n

11/n
After all these. You would see yourself become an adept bookkeeper. You can now confidently prepare and present financial statements from source documents to financial reports. But BS in Accountancy is not only confined to bookkeeping. 😬

12/n
You will also need to equip yourselves with non-accounting areas such as Auditing, Taxation, Business Law, and Management Advisory. Though naay similarities with accounting, more topics are too far out from the accounting mainstream.

13/n
Diri mag develop ang mga career convictions like:

1. I see myself in the corporate world!
2. Mag public practice kaya ko no?
4. Teaching is my passion!
5. Mag negosyante gyud ko pag-graduate based ani amoa PFS!

14/n
Or pwede pud diri bale mubigay na mo physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.

1. May pag magminyo
2. Pabuhi nalang ta ani
3. Mag vlogger nalang guro ko
4. MAG SHIFT NAKO

It is sad to admit that I have seen many give up on their dreams at this stage. 🥺

15/n
Enthusiastic freshmen transform now to cynical seniors. Many blame outside pressure for their setbacks. Many regret their decision of pursuing this program when in the first place it never had been their choice. Students are like stretched balloons on the verge of popping.

16/n
There are some who gets over this stage and find the right footing to go on and continue, pero there are more who just pop and sputter their way out. I have seen countless friends, peers, and students that just lost the fight within them and shelved pursuing BSA.

17/n
Not graduating with a BSA degree may be disappointing for others. Some would even brand themselves as failures. Pero the truth is, it will not make you less of a person if you don’t. Maybe, just maybe, this degree was just not for you.

18/n
I had friends who succeeded in other fields of endeavor despite not having this degree. Some even did not finish their schooling. But their experiences and discipline in this program helped cultivate who they become to be. They still found a way to succeed in their own ways

19/n
If you are a BSA student and have read this far. Don’t be afraid if you begin to doubt yourself. Reflect and ponder if you need to step-back and set the CPA dream aside momentarily. Stepping back could give us a clearer vision in which way to move forward with our lives.

20/n
And if you finally decide to pursue your CPA dream. It is never too late. The world will never run out of opportunities for accountants. Heck, at this time of “new normal” we are one of the professions who can effectively “work from home” and anad na og social distancing

21/n
Pero if you are a student who continues to pursue BSA no matter what. I have some tips for you.

1. Trust the process, no matter how painful
2. Enjoy the ride, even when things get ridiculous
3. Make every moment an opportunity to become better
4. Learn and be learned

22/n
5. Be open for corrections, specially from people you disagree with. Remember, nobody is perfect
6. Love the presence of your family - biological and otherwise.
7. Always respect those who came before you and will come after you
8. When studying, leave no page unturned

23/n
9. Never forget to eat and sleep on time
10. Never lose the fun and the excitement.
11. Make pursuing your CPA dream just a part and chapter of your life. Not the entire purpose of living it, and
12. Pray

24/n
I still have so many thoughts in my mind pero I guess I’ll end this thread with this last tweet and last message for everyone who wants to pursue, are pursuing, or even gave up pursuing BS in Accountancy.

“Certified Public Accountants are not born, they are made.”

😉
