Is democracy even possible under capitalism?

I'm tired of shouting into the void about how all the empirical evidence makes it clear that the results we're getting aren't what the people want, when the only relevant answer is that capitalism simply won't allow it.

Private capitalists inevitably control the main sources of information. It is thus extremely difficult/impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of political rights.
