I've been reading this a lot and I disagree. We can make production safe. What I think will happen is what probably should have happened three months ago. Testing will be mandatory for your cast and crew, just like vaccines at school. There will be health checks on set. https://twitter.com/baddestmamajama/status/1250454319339409408
every department head responsible for temp checks 3x a day: when your department comes in, when they break for lunch and when they leave. (A real issue will be people taking acetaminophen in order to show up at work and I'm not sure how we protect for that)
Production insurance and production budgets will be modified to allow for 2-4 week shutdowns in the case of an infection. We will add in nightly cleaning. We will not hug. Intimate scenes will require clean tests from all participants.
Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will have to be available for crews. Masks and gloves will need to be available for crew. I think craft services will be eliminated. But if you've been ordering food youve been eating catering.
None of this is easy. But it's possible
None of this is easy. But it's possible
I say this not to say it’s easy or already in place but to remind all of us in this business that we are problem solvers and production is possible. Saying it isn’t only guarantees that outcome.
