I don't have a specific breakdown of these numbers -- exact gate receipts, TV revenue, NCAA credits, donations, etc. Those are kept internally at #URI and elsewhere. But this gives you the most recent general idea of where #A10MBB teams stood from a budgetary perspective.

How can the gap be closed? Winning more. Better marketing. More interest. Increased attendance. More donor outreach.

Is that possible at #URI? Honestly, I have no idea. I'm not sure anyone does.

But 2017-18 was the best season #URI has had in two decades, and there still was an attendance shortfall. There still wasn't immediate, ready cash on hand or a few phone calls away to retain the coach or significantly enhance the program going forward. That's discouraging.

For comparison, the four Rhode Island D1 men's basketball programs for 2018-19 from the US Dept of Ed:

Brown budget/revenue $1,239,495 profit $0
Bryant budget/revenue $1,883,381 profit $0
Providence budget/revenue $11,117,186 profit $0
#URI budget $4,745,208 profit $53,890
