Can we just finally admit that fee-for-service is a broken system and that treating doctors like individual small businesses is an unsustainable model of health care?

Our system should not be this fragile when we desperately need doctors to keep patients out of the hospital.
Full disclosure: I work in a FHT and am therefore receiving a stable income. I'm taking a small hit because some of my income is fee-for-service, but I have colleagues making ZERO while still financially on the hook to keep their practices going.

How does this make ANY sense?
Why would @fordnation and @celliottability destabilize our health infrastructure right now? We desperately need doctors' offices to stay open.

If doctors depending on fee-for-service income to pay rent or staff are getting ZERO, then the govt needs to cover those costs.
Either move doctors to a salaried model or cover the expenses of those who will have no income until phone codes can be billed.

Anything else is just the destruction of our health care system in the midst of a pandemic.
