If you took the time to look at the ENTIRE video-you’d see that she was talking about how fortunate SKorea has been compared to the rest of the world and that she understands how bad it is outside of her own country. She kept on encouraging people to continue social distancing 1/ https://twitter.com/keepgoingnaddie/status/1250358195962253312
and to keep themselves healthy amidst all of this. She was sharing how she has personally been keeping busy despite the virus (she has mostly just been staying at home rewatching Gossip Girl on Netflix for God knows the nth time or something+playing Animal Crossing w/ friends) 2/
And people tend to forget how she struggles with using English sometimes because her accent is still impeccable. So to let you know, she has spent most of her life in Korea at this point (14 out of her 20 years), and only ever uses English when talking about casual day-to-day 3/
things with her family and some of her members. She doesn’t use English to express her more complex ideas and deeper, more abstract thoughts. Due to such, she is prone to forgetting the English equivalents of a lot of words/phrases/common sayings, as well as making grammatical 4/
errors every now and then. She sometimes stutters a lot and loses her train of thought when she has to speak in English. With her background being laid out to you for your better understanding, I’d like you to look at the nuance and context of what she was talking about and 5/
how she was talking about the situation. She used nonsense as a way of referencing the virus in a negative light. She meant when this “bad situation” is over, but ended up saying “nonsense” due to her relative limited grasp over the language. She then proceeded to continue to 6/
her next train of thought; which was talking about the lockdown situation. But she wasn’t too sure what it was called exactly, which is why she said “quarantine...whatever” instead of the formal phrase “Enhanced Community Quarantine”. As a native English speaker myself who 7/
is constantly immersed in an environment that primarily expresses thoughts and speech in English, I notice my friends tend to forget phrases/words that they aren’t always exposed to, thus ending up saying “thingie” to replace the word or saying what they remember and adding 8/
“whatever” at the end of the word to indicate that whatever they had expressed is not the exact term that’s supposed to be used. Anyone with a functioning brain that can see sound logic, with a good grasp over the English language, and can understand things in proper context 9/
with all its inherent nuances would be able to see that. It’s people with malicious intent who choose to cut a video, twist a person’s words to further their negative agenda against a person who has done them no wrong, that cannot see that because of their inherent biases at 10/
play. So if you’re the former, kindly delete this as to mitigate the damage you’ve done and prevent further misinformation regarding the matter. However, if you’re the latter, then clearly you’re a hopeless case. And sincerely, if you are the latter, maybe it’s my fault for 11/
expecting more from you. While your faves probably would not be in favor of the fake and libelous agenda you’re trying to propagate against an innocent person, I know people who do this are people whose actions are indicative of how little education they’ve received, how 12/
unrefined their tastes are, and most importantly - how they were not bred & raised to be upstanding citizens in this society. I’d almost feel sorry for people like this...if only they didn’t have a hive mentality with people who share their tasteless 13/
interests, in order to attack a person who’s really just trying to work hard for her fans and to make good of her own career. So I’d like for us to see and for you to prove to us if you really are the former or the latter, so we can act accordingly. Because her company isn’t 14/
above suing people who like to throw muddied lies all over their artists. I hope you take that into consideration aside from thinking about basic decency. Fans are a reflection of their idols, so think carefully if this is the kind of behavior you want associated with your 15/
idol, and try to honestly ask yourself if your fave would actually be happy or proud of you over the things you do while being a torchbearer of your fave’s name. 16/
