tiny toons doesnt get enough credit for how it revolutionized animation in the united states. it premiered at a time when the only things for kids on tv were glorified toy commercials. Suddenly, Spielberg pops in with gorgeous art, fantastic music, and a manic spirit...
...that original animation hadn't seen in decades.
We rightly remember the contribution of B:TAS, which followed Tiny Toons, but that was part of the same push at Warner to reinvent children's television.
Tiny Toons gets overshadowed by Animaniacs, which was certainly a more mature show, and B:TAS, but neither would have existed without it. But it gets written off as being too "kiddie."
Tiny Toons sparked my love for television as a creative medium, and not just as a series of end products. It, alongside animaniacs and SNL, was my introduction to the process of television.
