Sweden is unofficially pursuing herd immunity. They have 500 ICU beds for a population of 10 million - of which 20% is over 65 (v old pop). Now, One of their major hospital will not be taking patients over 80, nor those 60-80 with pre-existing conditions. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/sweden-coronavirus-lockdown-doctor-death-certificates-latest-a9462796.html
Much of what I wrote above isn't in the article, my own digging. Authorities are getting away with this under following pretence: 'Sweden has defended its' strategy.. (state epidemiologist) Anders Tegnell says the strategy is rooted in a "long tradition" of respecting "free will"
Holy hell, those age limits aren't chronological age, but 'biological age' "It appears that this applies to "biological age", ie not the actual (chronological) age of the person. If you're seriously ill, the biological age can be assessed to be higher/lower than actual age"
Sweden has 526 ICU beds as per modelling papers I've read. Now, unless they've added more, they seem to be very close to the limit right now.
