We love comparing ourselves to Britain& #39;s Covid-19 response - but what happens when we compare Ireland to similar sized countries in Europe.

Okay, so population wise we& #39;re very similar to Denmark & Norway - we probably have a similar amount of confirmed cases....
But we& #39;re testing more than the Danes & Norwegians - after all we& #39;re following the South Korean model according to the Taoiseach...
Ok, but the media are constantly praising the Irish government& #39;s response - our number of deaths must be lower than Denmark & Norway& #39;s....
Well we all know the issues with our health service - our ICU capacity is probably not up to the standard of Denmark & Norway...
We& #39;re a small island - our population is probably far more dense than Denmark, which makes it easier for the infection to spread.
VERDICT: It& #39;s easy to compare Ireland to failure across the ponds and feel good about ourselves.
Unfortunately the reality of the government& #39;s response isn& #39;t as great as portrayed by the media when we compare Ireland to similar sized countries in Europe.
