BS in Accountancy as a pre-law course (from a law student's perspective)

A thread.
The CPA track covers a lot of laws that come in handy for the legal profession - Taxation, Commercial/Mercantile Laws, Partnerships (as part of the Civil Code), Special Laws like FRIA, BP22, etc.
Take note though that there are schools that don't focus as much on these subjects as they do in *accounting-related* subjects like FAR, AFAR, and Audit - hence, poor foundation. So keep in mind that you'll have to work the *extra* mile just to get a good grasp on these topics.
This is basically a good training for law school if this will be the case since you'll learn how to study and get by on your own, plus your profs' additional pointers for learning (and problem-solving techniques).
Basically, the discipline you'll develop just to earn the BS in Accountancy degree - and eventually, the CPA license - will definitely help you get by, given the Socratic Method of teaching in law school (watch @kipoebanda's Bar Boys to see the recit system in law school)
But, mind you, it does not only take Tax & Business Law to earn that "JD". Regarding this, other courses have other pertinent law subjects as well. BS Criminology covers Criminal Law; BS Political Science has Constitutional Law (which by far is most challenging for many freshmen)
Not really sure about the other courses, but let me remind you that it only takes some units of English, Math, and SocSci to be admitted into a law school (plus the entrance exam if there's one, of course). The *particular* undergrad course most likely has little to no bearing.
As of now, I've been classmates who came from different courses/backgrounds - IT, Engineering, Pharmacy, Psychology - and, mind you, they're really faring well.
Bottomline, it's really up to you if you're willing to take the challenge that is in BS in Accountancy. Not meaning to degrade other *pre-law courses* but personal experience told me that its horrors aren't for the weak. HAHA! You need resilience to keep pushing for it to be done
My best takeaway probably after that BS Management Accounting - BS in Accountancy - CPA journey is the attitude I was able to develop when working for my own goals - Ora et Labora.
