Can we stop saying “we’re in this together” NO WE’RE NOT. This is NOT the great equalizer . I have a level of privilege that others don’t. Access to food, shelter, a sense of financial security as a teacher in the TDSB, technology to support my children’s learning....
Ss are isolated in homes w/ families who are’t supportive of who they are @ their identities, how are we supporting LGBTQ2S+ students? Families are living w/ food insecurity, & worrying about how to feed their children....
Families are juggling childcare & teaching their children @ home w/ no technology, families are having to grieve loss, illness and isolation from each other, children are watching their families go to work & risk their health, knowing they could come with the COV19....
This IS NOT the great equalizer, it’s bringing to light the glaring inequities in our system and further marginaliIzing underserved students and families. We’re NOT in this together!!
