my thoughts:

so early on, you bring back up that BTS needs more exposure to GP in the US. You also kinda back your idea on their BBMAs appearance and claim that this stage may help, but you proceed to ask another DJ why they make lack exposure in the US.. the answer is radioplay https://twitter.com/adambombshow/status/1250160988931923971
many people in the US don't tune in to the BBMAs to hear new artists. they turn on the radio.

if you still back your idea on American Award Show appearances, let's bring up GRAMMYs. BTS were the most talked-about artist of the night (having shared a stage and won nothing)
speaking of BBMAs, they attended the show 3 times and in their first year, they won the Top Social Artist award over JB, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes when their tag #BTSBBMAS was used more than 300 million times.

they also won a Top Duo/Group award in 2019.
their Fallon appearance (the episode dedicated to them only) became the #1 most-social episode of any entertainment program for the year to date across all dayparts and genres.

they performed at NYRE.

performed on Corden twice this year.
your DJ friend mentions that mainstream exposure is something that they are working towards in the US but have not yet achieved, and im sorry to point this out, but that is wrong.

even GRAMMYs said it.. you probably hear a lot about BTS "unless you live under a rock"...
btw, i love how he brings up that they would need product sponsorships, or need to be put on billboards, etc.. wow, he's really going there.

as for daytime television, they were on GMA.. twice. even did the Today show this year actually.
bottom line in my opinion, television exposure isn't the bigger issue.. they're left without radioplay, and that's a problem that can prevent them from reaching out to wider music audiences/listeners, but moving on..
talking about playing and being more cautious of "untested/unfamiliar/new records"..

once again, there's that "risk" factor that the nowthis article touched up on a bit.. they were right when they said "Radio is about maintaining an audience". why try something "new".
we also kinda have to admit that this isn't the only factor. personal bias can affect decisions.

a DJ in the past once admitted that there was a groupchat where radio ppl talked badly about BTS. I won't believe that this did not have an affect on whether or not they played BTS.
speaking of the nowthis piece, this statement has me a bit curious...

"Radio is also concerned that music popular with teen audiences will make older listeners tune out."

if DJ's do believe this, then this is falsely assuming that an artist appeals only to a teen base.
back to the podcast..

the DJ's guest, Adam's friend mentions that JB has more establishment in the US than BTS.. but if this were to be true, how come JB couldn't sell out any stadiums and had to downgrade to an arena tour, when BTS quickly sold out multiple stadiums for theirs?
they also beat him for TSA..... 3 times now.

and they have the most consecutive weeks at number one on that chart..
i feel like this is just repeating the same sentiment as the livestream adam did.. eh, i'll leave this here.
last point: bh/columbia aren't doing payola.. big factor probably. will leave the discussion here.
