The numbers are just staggering: on March 15, 2020 the United States had 60 COVID-19 deaths. 31 days later the total is approaching 30,000 deaths. The average number of deaths over that 31 day period is 962.
4 weeks in and the COVID-confirmed deaths (not COVID-attributable) look like the national totals for a bad flu YEAR in the US, which we infer indirectly via attributable mortality (35-40,000 deaths). This thing is a horror.
