Is the World Health Organization&
#39;s reliance on China in this pandemic a problem? Of course. But that&
#39;s the reality of international fora, and the risk of that problem needs to be put in the context of the crisis we&
#39;re facing, here.

Being hawkish on China, and Beijing&
#39;s influence on supranational bodies, is a good thing.
But using it as a cudgel to go after all the work of the organization that is helping the world coordinate its COVID-19 response is really irresponsible. It misunderstands the WHO&
#39;s role.
Blaming international bodies for domestic failure is also a very classic move for bumbling wanna-be oligarchs (see: Orban and Soros.) Open source intelligence told us COVID-19 was a problem in late Jan/early Feb. Governments still didn&
#39;t act. The WHO isn&
#39;t uniquely to blame.
