I was just watching the news about the anti Semitic attacks in Crown Heights. ‘Special Report’ flashes across the screen and I see a slew of security measures being taken. NYPD increased their presence in Jewish communities and the Guardian Angels stepped up to serve as visual

deterrence. This is great. I then find an opinion piece in the NYP that says “African American community must stand with Jews against waves of assault”... The article honed in on the fact that African Americans and Jews share a history of oppression and that Black leaders want to

stand up against hatred no matter who is being impacted by the negativity. HOWEVER the article informs us that the suspects are black and that these “alleged perpetrators might be criminals, sociopaths and mentally ill persons”. I hope you know where I’m going with this.

I am not condemning the precautionary measures taken by law enforcement in these Jewish communities. But let’s break this down..... while Blacks snd Jews share a history of oppression, Jews also lended a helping hand to ensure our oppression. Jacob Marcus, a Jewish scholar, noted

that over 75% of Jewish families in the south were SLAVE OWNERS. They just owned fewer compared to the larger total of slaves. Jews also took part in the slave TRADE. So interesting that African Americans MUST help protect them. Interesting that the attackers must be mentally ill

Interesting that when black men, women, and children are systematically MURDERED, or even in the midst of us killing each other, there is no heightened patrol. There’s NYPD cameras posted up in certain areas, not to protect us but to oversee the continuance of the black genocide.

In NO WAY do I condone these attacks on Jews. At all. I think it’s horrifying and disgraceful, but I wish that everyone was TRULY equally protected under the law. And I find it funny how the media really perpetuates this in-group/out-group narrative.

And before people jump to conclusions, I am NOT saying that these Jews involved in slavery represent EVERY single Jew in America and therefore aid in the oppression of minorities. The same way we do not like the generalizations applied to Blacks, I refuse to do that to others

But I do think the historical context was needed to understand my frustrations. If these Black perpetrators are criminals and mentally ill, then let’s make sure that domestic terrorists, racist law enforcement officers and civilians that kill, etc, are CRIMINALS.

Do NOT give them the leeway of mentally ill status though... because that has been used to excuse tons of crimes committed by people who are very much so competent.

And to be very honest, the large majority of mentally ill people are not violent so let’s not subject them to anymore discrimination EITHER.
