Okay, time for some unpleasant truths about what's likely going to happen:
1) Some people maintain that we should remain in lockdown until a vaccine is developed and rolled out. That simply is not going to happen because the wholesale destruction people's lives would be far worse than anything COVID-19 can do to us.
2) Some claim we should immediately go back to business as usual. That is also not going to happen. Even if all levels of gov't gave the go ahead tomorrow, many do so with adjusted behavior such as mask wearing and social distancing.
Now that I've got the two endpoints covered,
3) We will start slowly going back to work across the country sometime between now and mid-June at the absolute latest. This leads to subsequent points.
4) Without a vaccine or treatment, the peak of deaths curve will have simply moved right on the timeline. The current economic destruction will have been for almost no gain.
5) If you assume, as I do, that HCQ+zpac+zinc is a viable and inexpensive treatment that works most of the time when administered early on (before a ventilator), then the situation is manageable.

THIS IS JUST TRUMP QUACKERY NO EVIDENCE IT WORKS AT ALL!!
Shut up, stupid and dishonest people. Grownups are talking.

6) If you also assume -again, I do- that other treatments being investigated, such as Ivermectin+zinc or [insert something here] become proven and widely available, the situation becomes even more manageable.
7) But let's assume all promising treatments turn out to be snake oil. What then? Well, I'll tell you: see #4 above. As Mike Williamson mentioned in early April, the shutdown doesn't prevent the peak deaths, it merely moves them forward.
If the treatments work, opening the economy becomes manageable from a public health perspective. If they don't, bad things will happen. But the bad things caused by an indefinite shutdown will be worse in my opinion.
You think things are bad now, but wait until the things you've been buying at the grocery store stop being produced.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me. I do expect some people to respond angrily. Before you do so, I will remind you that the unfollow button is close at hand.
